Castello di Rapallo
It was built in 1550 for defensive purposes after the plundering and destruction of the settlement by the corsair Dragut, who enslaved many inhabitants. Used for a long time as a prison, it has been restored and is now a prestigious venue for exhibitions and conferences.

Il 4 luglio 1549, il corsaro turco Dragut compì una disastrosa incursione su Rapallo, che costò alla città il rapimento di molti abitanti e la morte di chiunque si fosse opposto ai saccheggi. Immediatamente, la Repubblica di Genova ordinò al podestà di Rapallo, Gerolamo Cattaneo, la costruzione del castello, che fu ultimato in appena un anno.
